Gift Giving Ideas: Gadget Addition
A few of these are among my most used kitchen items that I didn’t know I was missing until I had them! Something for any level of cooking experience here.
No 1- Taco holders. I’m not sure why it bothers me so much that tacos don’t stand up, but this fixes the problem and helps to keep all the toppings in place.
No 2- Tortilla warmer. This can go perfectly with number one if you’re into themed gifts. We got a tortilla warmer from my in-laws several years ago. We didn’t have one when I was growing up, so I had no idea this was something people did before filling their soft taco shells. Now that I have one, there is no going back! I’ve seen the ceramic kind too, but the fabric type stores more easily.
No. 3- Immersion Blender. Soup is my favorite food type, so this definitely gets its use. I’ve had a few variations of these, but the Kitchen Aid is my favorite. The blades are detachable so it’s easy to clean and with the overall high quality, so I don’t worry about burning it out. Before I had one, I would transfer soup to a blender which is so messy. So much easier now!
No. 4- Bike pizza cutter. I don’t have this, but it seemed fun. Perfect for the hard-to-buy-for-sibling or white elephant!
No. 5- Ninja Blender. This is the blender I didn’t know I needed! We received it as a wedding gift and thirteen years later, its still running like the day we bought it! We will forever be sold on the Ninja brand in general after this blender. Works for smoothies, soups, sauces, I’ve even made pie crust with it and countless other things I haven’t thought of yet.
No. 6- Okay, this is probably my number one gift to give this year. I got one for my birthday in June and I love it. It makes chopping veggies so much faster and keeps the size consistent as you go which helps with cooking time. I’d recommend this for pretty much anyone who does any cooking at all. One note- DO NOT touch the blades. I made that mistake a few months ago….
No. 7- Kitchen Aid stand mixer. Blake and I bought our current house right before Christmas, coming up on four years ago. With all the other purchases that come up with buying a new house, we decided not to exchange gifts that year, and instead buy something for ourselves that we had been wanting, but could also be used for the family. My choice was the Kitchen Aid. It is an investment piece since they can be a little on the pricy side, but if you are looking to splurge on someone, they are worth it. Prior to this, I was burning out a hand mixer more than once a year…. Also, the decorator and aesthetically pleasing part of me loves that they come in so many colors, but I put white on this board because currently white and black are on sale for Black Friday! If you’re looking to save a little, this is the route to go. If you want it to match your color scheme or stand out, trust me, there is a color out there for you too!
No. 8- Egg maker. Have some athletes that just moved out in your life? This would make the perfect gift for them, or really anyone. In our house, we tend to go through a large quantity of eggs each week, and hard boiled are the top choice for a quick breakfast while running out the door. These egg makers make peeling easier than boiling in the pot and just seem to simplify the process.
No. 9- Pasta Machine. Okay, so I don’t have this and I’ve never tried it, BUT it is on our wish list to add to the kitchen. Think of a bread machine, but for pasta! Its all in one! We do have pasta attachments for the kitchen aid, and use them regularly, but the thought of just being able to put the ingredients in a machine and let it do the work is pretty appealing…
