The only Chocolate Chip Cookies you’ll ever need

This is another recipe from my mom’s collection. If you go to their house, and look in the freezer, there is a pretty good chance you will find a zip-lock bag of these hidden in there. Its a pretty regular basis that a bag makes it home with Kellen, to be stashed in his room and not shared with the rest of us…

My brother compares them to Martha’s from the Minnesota State Fair. I’ve never tried Martha’s, so I can’t confirm, but you can try them out for yourself. After making these, I’m pretty sure you’ll never want to use a different recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup of butter

  • 2/3 cup of shortening- don’t substitute this out, they won’t be the same.

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 tsp Vanilla

  • 3 cups of flour

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1 bag of chocolate chips- I use semi sweet mini’s

Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

  • Cream together the butter, shortening, both sugars, eggs and vanilla.

  • Once it has reached a creamy consistency, add the flour, soda and salt.

  • When the dough has formed, fold in the chocolate chips.

  • Grease the cookie sheet with left over shortening.

  • Use a small cookie scoop to spoon the dough onto the pan. Do not flatten the scoops.

  • Place in the oven for 11 minutes. I do only one pan at a time to make sure they cook consistently.

  • Allow to cool on the pan for about 3 minutes before moving to a cooling rack.

  • Share, or freeze! May need to hide some for later so your kids don’t eat them all…

I’m fairly sure there is nothing better than a warm chocolate chip cookie.
